Ta'Amim Music
Music that Transforms, Encourages and Entertains
- For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Matt 25:35-37 NLT
ta’amim (pronounced “tay-ah-meem") refers to cantillation marks in the text of Torah. Each mark signifies a different melodic phrase with which to chant a word or group of words. In Hebrew, these marks are called ta'amim and are an integral part of reading the Torah. The tradition of the ta'amim by which the Torah is to be sung, is as old as the Torah itself. It was taught to Moses together with the vowels, as it is integral to the correct understanding of the Torah. In this way, the ta’amim serve as a kind of musical notation; a small but important part of appreciating and understanding scripture. In a similar way, Ta’Amim exists to serve others in a small but significant way; bringing music and ministry; especially to those who often don’t have opportunity to experience it! Ta'Amim exists to provide music and ministry to those in skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living facilities, jails/prisons as well as churches and other groups. Founded in 1991 Ta'Amim is a ministry unit of Artists In Christian Testimony, a 501c3 mission board and sending agency for Christian artists.
